Dr. Chassanoff has been practicing dentistry in southeastern Connecticut since 1980 and has a special interest in snoring and sleep apnea. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1978 after earning his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
For over fifteen years, he has worked with sleep labs and physicians to provide oral appliances for those patients who could benefit from this avenue of treatment. Dr. Chassanoff has successfully treated hundreds of patients with sleep disordered breathing and regularly attends courses in dental sleep medicine. He works closely with sleep apnea teams and has assisted sleep labs with their accredition process by the American Association of Sleep Medicine.
Personal experience with the problems of snoring and sleep apnea have motivated Dr. Chassanoff to help others. He has been the subject of sleep studies, had palatal surgery and has used CPAP. Ultimately, the most satisfactory solution was using an oral appliance.
Dr. Chassanoff is certified as a Diplomat of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. The status of Diplomat is awarded after a written examination, documentation of successful patient treatment, sleep lab experience, and personal recommendations from Board Certified Sleep Physicians. There are fewer than 150 Diplomats of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine in the United States.
